Gretchen Reis, M.D. is an esteemed physician specializing in bioidentical hormone therapy and the Medical Director of Integrity Wellness Medical Center Charlotte. Dr. Reis is passionate about medicine and her patients, working in partnership with each patient as she helps them discover optimal wellness.
It was her devotion to her patients that led her to leave traditional medicine and join the growing field of functional medicine, where she can address health from a whole body, preventive perspective and uncover the root cause of disease rather than simply managing symptoms. She discovered that correcting underlying issues such as hormone imbalance, poor gut health, and inflammation has a powerful effect in restoring energy, moods and vitality.
Dr. Reis and her husband Bill have 5 children, 4 of whom were adopted out of foster care and one of whom has autism and other developmental disabilities. They have firsthand experience with many parenting challenges but are proud of all of their children, because they have grown into adults and are all doing well. Their youngest with special needs has improved greatly over the years and is a blessing to all who know him.
Dr. Reis has found that practicing functional medicine makes her a better doctor because she no longer has to focus only on managing symptoms —now, she can “truly get to the root cause of symptoms” and harness a power beyond what traditional medicine can provide.
Today, Dr. Reis takes a preventive approach to medicine, delivering solutions for long term health and the highest quality of life. She began her practice Integrity Wellness Medical Center in Charlotte where she embraces the added time she gets with each patient to address everything that stands between that patient and optimal health.
She has had the honor of being a primary care conference guest speaker on the amazing abilities of bioidentical hormone replacement therapy. Dr. Reis sets an example to her patients by maintaining work-life balance and a healthy lifestyle.

Dr. Reis was trained in Family Medicine and started her career in Pennsylvania. She thoroughly loved primary care, so when she and her family moved to Ohio in 2005, she started her own solo practice in a small, underserved community. Her patients loved her compassionate care, but the economic pressure of providing high-quality care in the insurance system became a severe strain. At the same time, she started learning about bioidentical hormones. She completed the Fellowship in Anti-Aging, Functional and Regenerative Medicine. She knew that she now had new tools to help her patients for whom she really hadn’t been able to help much beyond medications to reduce symptoms. She discovered a love for functional medicine and truly getting to the root of symptoms. By bringing in natural healing techniques, she and her patients discovered a new source of joy in health and wellness.
She moved to Charlotte in 2013 to open her new functional medicine practice, specializing in BHRT. Her practice has evolved since then to include more anti-aging techniques, weight loss and environmental-acquired illness. She now uses BHRT, supplements, and support for a healthy lifestyle to help her patients enjoy bountiful health.
